300 million people are using the Metaverse every month in some form or another, which was the total user base of the internet in 1999.
The question is, what is all the hype? The public’s expectations of the metaverse have been shaped by sci-fi movies like “Ready Player One,” in which the characters don VR goggles and haptic suits, but that should not define our idea of the Metaverse. Instead of an out-of-body future, experiences that bring interactivity into our lives is what the Metaverse is about. VR goggles, Haptic gloves, and capture suits are good, but that will not limit or define the metaverse. We have been using the Metaverse for the past two decades while experiencing platforms like Fortnite, Roblox and Minecraft. Today, Web 3.0 is an effort to bring it forward and add more usability to it. The Metaverse is a 3D virtual space that offers an immersive experience for people to socialize in a digital environment. For instance, your zoom call meeting transforms from staring at a 2D chat window to an experience of virtually greeting your colleagues, shaking hands, and getting into an immersive discussion in a digital space. Metaverse avatars can travel, work, attend events, play games, shop, or trade, like everyday life. Today, the Metaverse is ready to offer a new user experience using their own brand and tools to give their own customers product immersion. But what does it take to build the metaverse?
